Our Mission

Lancaster Junior Women’s Club (LJWC) is a dynamic, empowered group of women generously serving its community, while promoting strong, lasting friendships among members.

Club Meetings

LJWC meets the first Thursday of each month at a club member’s home or public location. At each meeting, time is set aside for club business, member education, social interaction and community service. Each member serves on a department and two committees of her choice to plan club programs and activities.

Departments, which plan projects and educational programming for LJWC, include Conservation, Education, Fine Arts, International, Homelife/Public Affairs. Committees, which lead operational programming for LJWC, include Auditing, Membership, Newsletter, Nominating, Scrapbook, Social, Telephone, and Ways & Means.

Leadership & Awards

LJWC offers members a chance to demonstrate and practice their leadership skills in various ways. In addition to committee and department chairs, who organize and manage specific activities, LJWC also elects executive officers including President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Communications Chairwoman.  Additionally, LJWC provides various informal opportunities for leadership, as club members can lead fundraising activities, community service efforts and social events. 

To recognize the service of its members, LJWC awards a “Woman of the Year” award and three “Crazy Daisy Distinguished Service Awards” each year to members who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and
service to LJWC and the community at-large.

Membership

LJWC is part of the Ohio Federation of Women’s Clubs (www.gfwcohio.org) and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (www.gfwc.org)—the largest women’s organization in the country. Annual dues for membership in all three organizations total $40.  Women who are interested in becoming part of LJWC must attend three meetings or functions and be nominated for membership by two current club members. New members are formally initiated at regular monthly club meetings.
